Gazspacho for the Scatological Soul

by Steve Murphy - 2/24/2007

One day about 4 years ago, I wrote a story reflecting on the passing of a friend, with a twist. It was a story about love, loss, remembrance, clairvoyance, pride and embarrassment. I called it "The Messenger". Several friends told me that it was very hearwarming and touching, and that had it not been for the content, it would undoubtedly be worthy of Readers Digest.

So today I wrote another story about another experience and shared it with my friend Suzie. She informed me that the subject matter of the two stories was related and she was pointing out a trend. She went on to suggest that I continue writing such stories and put them all together in a book and call it "Chicken Soup for the Scatological Soul". I thought it was a great idea, but I worried about trademark infringement and litigation, and I just didn't want to take that chance. I thought about using Chili or Jambalaya, but that would be like throwing the fecal matter right into your face. So I settled on Gazspacho, which is ironic because it's served cold.
